Do you need help with your horse training? Have you been given some equipment to train your horse but do not know what it is for? Longing consists of leading a horse in a large circle with the trainer on the ground giving commands at the end of a long rope. For Lunge Training you will need a lunge caveson that goes over the horse’s nose and head. Driving lines are made of cotton or nylon and are used to run between the horse and the trainer and attach to the caveson with a lunging attachment. Other horse training aids are a surcingle. Once the horse knows this as a fact, it will obey your commands unless you abuse that trust.
The ultimate in training will enable you to command your horse with movements of your body rather than by using forceful methods like whips, kicking or goads. Gentle pressure with your knees, legs, feet or even leaning to one side should be your command choices. A horse that enjoys its rider will eventually invite you to ride. By getting to know your horse you may even catch those subtle signs and when you do you know your training has been successful.
